Emulate is looking for an enthusiastic, talented and motivated Scientist II to join our team focused on Organ-on-a-Chip technology. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment, interfacing with multiple teams across Bioinnovations, Quality, Manufacturing and Product Development teams. You will be an integral part of the team supporting the quality control activities related to Organ- Chip model development along with identifying and supporting new cell lot testing and stability assessment.   • Independently develop, plan and execute studies according to study plans
  • Support the troubleshooting of problems associated with cell lot testing and Organ-Chip bio-kits
  • Support the revision of documentation such as material testing specifications, and cell lot release forms

You are ACCOUNTABLE and will:

  • Perform cell lot testing according to written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Lab Operations Documents (LOPs) and study designs
  • Prepare and execute studies with Organ-Chips, including readouts such as imaging, gene expression, flow cytometry, and other molecular biology assays for gene/protein expression
  • Record, process, compile and interpret experimental data and results along with presenting data in a cross-functional setting
  • Review and analyze data and prepare study reports to support lot release while closely working with Quality Assurance team

  • Effectively manage workload with minimal supervision
  • Provide technical assistance to other teams if needed.
  • Be involved in peer review of study designs and data analysis

  • Coordinate study execution with project team members from different departments.
  • Multi-task across several projects and manage time effectively to achieve results

Essential Skills:

  • BS in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with at least 4 years of professional research experience or MS in biomedical engineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related field with 2+ year of professional research experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of cell culture experience, preferably with human primary cells or IPSCs
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and provide possible solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory environment.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of statistics, cell/molecular biology, or building healthy and diseased in vitro models
  • Experience with immunofluorescent staining and imaging techniques
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as MSD, qRT-PCR, and flow cytometry
